Amando Soto Ricardo, "Asori," originally from Havana, Cuba, is now living in Brooklyn, New York. He has studied art history at the University of Havana and documentary filmmaking through NYU Tisch at the Ludwig Foundation. He is a young artist who has benefited greatly from support from the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba (FLC). FLC is a nongovernmental organization in Cuba that was created in 1995 aimed at promoting and protecting the work of young Cuban artists. Among other works, he has directed and produced two independent feature films, Vedado (2008) and Del Tosco (2007). He is currently working on a feature length documentary, Cuban Food Stories, set to be released in 2017. This will be the first comprehensive documentary of Cuban food, society, and culture.

Él ha sido estudiante de la historia del arte en la Universidad de la Habana y del rodaje documental en la Universidad de Nueva York, en el programa Tisch en la Fundación Ludwig.
