A staunch critic of the traditional and monolithic style of Cuban cinema, Pavel Giroud is known for challenging the idea of a national cinema in Cuba in order to appeal to international audiences. He studied design at the Instituto Superior de Dise�o, and later trained at the EICTV to focus on his filmmaking skills. He is also known for his collaborations with other filmmakers and organizations abroad. For instance in 2004, he collaborated with Esteban Insausti and Lester Hamlet in 3x2. At age 35, he became the youngest Cuban filmmaker to release a feature length film with The Silly Age (2006). He was recently profiled in On Location in Cuba, a study of Cuban filmmaking by Ann Marie Stock.

Se gradu� del Instituto Superior de Dise�o y despu�s pas� tiempo en San Antonio de los Ba�os donde estudi� con el EICTV para enfocar m�s en sus habilidades cinematogr�ficas. Tambi�n se conoce por sus colaboraciones con otros cineastas y organizaciones extranjeros. Por ejemplo en 2004, trabaj� con Esteban Insausti y Lester Hamlet en 3x2.
