Arturo Sotto Diaz graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte de la Habana and the International School of Film and Television in San Antonio de los Baños with degrees in performing arts. From a young age, he began directing and acting in the theatre. His first screenplay was Quién habrá cerrado las puertas (Who Will Have Closed the Doors). His films have been showcased across the world, and he has judged film festivals in Germany and Cuba. His most well known movies Amor vertical (Vertical Love)and Pon tu pensamiento en mí­ (Think of Me), were chosen to represent Cuba at the Oscars.

Desde muy joven, empezó a dirigir y actuar en el teatro. Su primer guion se llamaba Quién habrá cerrado las puertas. Sus obras han sido mostradas internacionalmente y ha sido jurado en varios festivales en Cuba y Alemania. Sus pelí­culas más conocidas, Amor vertical y Pon tu pensamiento en mí­, fueron elegidos para representar a Cuba en los premios Oscar.
